Remember to pull your shoulders through when you step to the side and be sure to get your chamber all the way up in front of you before throwing the kick. Good luck!
The 2 step method combines the first two movements of the box step into one and then steps out to the side horse. This combining motion moves the upper body into a low profile position in just one move now, thus making it much more efficient than the 3 step method.
Adding a strike after the block is important especially because you are moving in on your opponent. Get comfortable with flowing smoothly from your block into your counter. The shorter the gap between the block and strike the more effective you will be in a self defense situation.
This starts by using the 2 step method to develop the correct timing for the block. As you get more comfortable with the timing, you can start to do the “Rounding the Corner” method with the block sandwiched into the movement.
“Rounding the Corners” is still a two step method, but you can see that it is far more fluid. The key, similar to the 2 step method, is to make sure the upper body moves to a low profile position as quickly as possible.
