Similar to Defense Maneuver 8, this one adds an extra kick at the end. to understand some of the other differences between the two techniques, see the Walkthrough video.
If you’re not happy with your score, this video can really help with some of the details in Defense Maneuver 8. If you prefer a side by side view rather than a mirrored head on view, go to 02:13.
The knife hand block is simply an open handed #2 block. For the roundhouse kick, make sure to keep your knee pointing toward your opponent during the pivot so that you maximize your timing, range and power for your finishing kick.
This video covers a lot more detail and explanation of what is happening with the initial redirection as well as other key elements of this technique. For the non-mirrored version (but less explanation) go to 04:52.
Be smooth on the redirect into the rake. Make sure to rotate your body to generate power and set up for a big roundhouse kick. Use the energy from the jump to give power to your finishing strikes.
The entire technique is done with the right hand (with the exception of the left hand holding the leg at the end). The idea is to learn how to be efficient with our movements from blocking to striking, all on one hand, should we be limited (maybe an injury) by our available weapons.
