V5 – FROM A STANDING POSITION
Make sure you are comfortable with the previous stages before attempting it from the standing position. Do not let the legs extend during this or you will fall directly onto your tailbone. Again, keeping that egg shape in the back is a key to successfully slapping out.
V4 – FROM A HORSE STANCE
This is the “walk before running” phase of the slap out. It is important to feel comfortable as we fall towards the ground so starting in a horse stance will allow an easier transition before standing.
V2 – ENGAGING THE ARMS
The timing of the arms and hands engaging the slap is paramount for releasing the energy from our body.
V3 – ELEVATING OFF THE GROUND
After starting on the ground to eliminate the effects of gravity as much as possible, we have to start elevating off the ground. Making sure to keep all other components of the slap out in tact as we come into contact with the ground is the challenge here.
V1 – ROUNDING THE BACK
Learning how to keep the back rounded while falling allows the energy of a fall to transfer smoothly through and out of our body.
INTRO – BUILDING THE SLAP OUT
