This is the traditional shuffle method which travels at a 45 degree angle matching the angle between the feet in our half moon stance. Building combinations with our movement is important for practical self defense.
A big part of this challenge is being able to go back and forth between instep and ball positions for both the front and roundhouse kicks. Please note the position of the knee on the transition between kicks each time.
Make sure you practice this several times before trying the challenge. If your range is off on any of the kicks to the bag it will effect your balance as well as multiple other criteria for the grading process. The transitions each time and landing in a good half moon stance are going to be […]
Keep a curve to the back as you do theses rolls. The head should never contact the floor as it would doing a summersault. We strongly suggest going through the help videos prior to trying this challenge.
Start on the right side each time and make sure to bring the leg across to insure you are rolling towards your hip rather than straight back. We do not want to see a standard fall (straight back) with only one hand slapping out. Good luck!
The trickiest footwork of the three, make sure not to let it affect your kicks! We’re looking for good chambers along with power and extension to show you can coordinate the footwork without compromising technique.
The footwork in the mid range starts to get a little more difficult. Make sure to land in the correct position after each kick to achieve a high score in this one!
Be sure to have good chambers on every kick. This will help maintain good balance so you can set into the correct half moon stance each time. You should not be falling into any stance because of a lack of balance.
