The first part of this drill develops the hands. The blocking motion is referred to as a “double circle” block. Get comfortable with it before trying to add the footwork.
Keep the fingers facing up on the downward block and make sure to block right on your centerline. You do not have to watch every angle, but try to find the one that works best for you.
The timing of the hands and feet in the beginning is very important. Also, make sure to have a nice low stance for all of the strikes at the end of the technique.
I strongly encourage you to watch the version that we do on a partner so that you can see what is happening with the wrap of the arm. The walkthrough breaks it down with some more detail, but it will still be helpful to see the application.
Be consistent in landing in your half moon stance. This will help insure that you are in the correct range for each of your kicks. Be careful of your toes on the roundhouse ball kick (note: you should kick toward the forward angle of the back as opposed to directly to the side). Good luck!
