The front and back kick are two very powerful kicks and being able to throw them to opposite directions in succession will drastically increase your effectiveness in multiple attacker scenarios.
The first part of the video shows a slow breakdown of the two kicks. At 01:05 we show it a bit smoother and finally at 01:46 we show the black belt level of the two kick combo.
The fundamentals here are the same as the previous levels as are the common mistakes. Build to this level rather than trying to go straight for this version. Good luck!
Make sure you are very comfortable from the crouch before moving to the half moon stance. The psychological component of elevating your stance is stronger than most people realize and the higher you start, the greater the risk of injury. Please watch at 01:05 for the common mistakes again.
The crouch adds a little bit of momentum, but the key is kicking that foot up to direct the fall towards the hip. Make sure to watch the common mistakes that start at 00:55.
The side slap out is important to develop for those instances where you fall and either a hand is being controlled by your opponent or you do not fall directly backward. Make sure to warm up the back and shoulders before working these drills.
Same as the No Recovery, we use the re-chamber to make the 90 degree turn in these videos, however your challenge has the turn happening on the set down. Practice both methods to build your comfort level and skill with variable options.
Only try this level once you have drilled the slower versions enough times that you won’t sacrifice any balance or technique in adding that extra power and speed. Good luck!
